Abstract:

The existence of secure communication channels in the daily use of the World Wide Web has proven to be very important. Therefore, electronic signatures and digital time-stamps have become of critical importance for any application concerned with security. The use of these techniques requires a legal framework, which is essential to securing the equivalence between classic signatures on paper and the new electronic methods. This article presents an analysis of the problems related to international, European and Romanian legislation on electronic signatures, and also discusses possibilities of making improvements to the existing laws.
