Abstract:

The existence of software libraries led to a significant increase in software developer productivity, reducing the interval spanning from design to sale and improving software quality and reusability. However, with the increasing number of reusable software libraries in software warehouses, finding and adopting an appropriate software library has become a difficult and complex task for developers. The article presents a software management system model, the new system of the National Library of Programs (NLP), developed by ICI Bucharest, designed for collecting and displaying the information about software products developed in Romania. There are highlighted the contributions of the system to information on the software quality, the optimal management of the software portfolio and the assistance offered to potential beneficiaries in identifying products that are optimal in terms of their requirements. Also, new components and services of the new system for extended content management are presented with new categories (publications, methods and methodologies) and for evaluation and recommendation of software products. Oracle Application Express (Oracle APEX) 5.0, hosted in the ORACLE 11g R2 database, along with HTML5 and Web 2.0 standards, have been used in the development of this system.
