Experimental Testing of Data Compression Algorithms

Abstract:

The paper presents results of experimental testing of 5 data compression algorithms (Shannon-Fano, LZW, Standard Huffman, Dynamic Huffman, Arithmetic Compression). Testing was intended to highlight the performance of compression algorithms depending on the nature of the data (text, image, sound, executable, dynamic libraries, C++, Pascal).
