Modern Trends in Decision Support Systems

Abstract: Competitive context of the global economy, limited access to resources, their drastically reducing implies that firm’s performance is strongly influenced by the quality of decisions made by management.

Making the best decision is subject to accede to a large amount of information and completing a complex process of analysis and synthesis thereof. Capacity for collecting, processing and analyzing information that enterprise management (human factor) should have is far beyond human limits. For exceeding these limitations in decision-making are used means of communication and information technologies, especially information technologies for decision support.

In this paper are presented the current trends of development of decision support systems (DSS), author highlighting for the DSS field openings and opportunities offered by Web technology, especially for collaborative DSS.

Keywords: decision, decision support system, decision making, collaborative system,  ontology.
