Abstract: In this article we point out that the mathematical definition is not unique, as Aristotle created it, by genus proximum and differentia specifica, pointing to the essence of a thing. It consists in a functional proposition, allowing the intelectual act of creation all its liberty of movement.

Keywords: definition, proof.
