Abstract: In order to determine the spatial coordinate (position) of an aerial receiver (a plane), using a global positioning system giving the distance of the receiver to some emitters, a simple optimization mathematical model is presented. Numerical experiments show that with a good initialization the Newton method determines the solution in a split of second.
